The Orphaned Job Component tool incorrectly identifies valid SAS® Data Integration Studio job metadata targetTransformation Set objects as orphaned metadata during the analysis step. The repair step removes the identified job metadata objects.
The Metadata Analyze and Repair tools, which you can access from the Metadata Manager node in SAS® Management Console, enable you to run selected tests on metadata to locate common problems. When it is possible, the tools also repair problems that the analysis identifies. The tools are available with the Analyze and Repair Metadata Batch Tool (sas-analyze-metadata).
The Orphaned Job Component tool checks the metadata repository for metadata that is no longer associated with its job. This tool has several component tools. Each component has a set of rules that are used to determine whether the metadata in question is orphaned from its orginal job. Listed for each component tool is the associations and attributes that will be checked. The object is an orphan if all the listed associations are empty and the attribute values are as specified. One of the rules that determine orphaned Job metadata uses code that looks for source transformations but not a target transformation for Select objects.
The tool assumes that Select objects will be identified as orphans whenever the source transformations are missing. There are some cases where Set objects have target-transformation objects, but no source-transformation objects. If it is identified as an orphan, the valid metadata is removed from the repository.
To prevent the removal of the incorrectly identified orphaned job metadata, it is recommended that you do not run the Orphaned Job Component tool. De-select the tool in the Analyze and Repair Metadata utility.
In addition, when you use the Analyze and Repair Metadata Batch tool (sas-analyze-metadata) do not specify -tool OrphJob.
