In some situations, the UNIX cleanwork utility might remove the WORK directories for active SAS 9.4 sessions.
In particular, if the UNIX permissions for WORK directories are set for GROUP or WORLD access, and cleanwork is executed, then active WORK directories to which the user has access might be removed.
The permissions for WORK directories are controlled by the SAS system option WORKPERMS. The default value for WORKPERMS is 700, giving full access for the owner of the directory, and no GROUP or WORLD access. If you change the value of the WORKPERMS option, the cleanwork utility can remove WORK directories even when a session remains active.
