Usage Note 54512: Inactive parent series in SAS® Forecast Server
When a parent series is set to Inactive, any child series are automatically set to Inactive.
For this reason, you should not add any new child series, or new data for an existing child series, under an inactive parent.
SAS Forecast Server assumes that no new child series and no new data for an existing child series comes in under an inactive parent.
SAS Forecast Server was not designed or intended to be a data management or filtering tool. Checking child series of an inactive parent is part of the data-preparation process that you should perform before invoking SAS Forecast Server. SAS Forecast Server does not do this data preparation due to a potential performance impact.
During your data-preparation process, check inactive parent-series for the following:
- any new child series.
- any existing child series that has new data.
If you suspect you have an inactive series that has child series with new data or new child series, and you want to update your project, then do the following:
- Write code to determine whether an inactive series has a child series with new data or a new child series.
- Before updating the project in SAS Forecast Server, either remove new child series and any new data for an existing child series, or set the parent series to active.
