Problem Note 54327: An HTTP 500 internal-server error and a "NoSuchElementException" message occur when you save an issue or action plan in SAS® Enterprise GRC
Issues and action plans are two components of SAS Enterprise GRC. When you save either an issue or an action plan, you might receive the error HTTP 500 Internal Server Error on your display. When this happens, an exception similar to the following appears in the log file:
SASEnterpriseGRC 10Apr14 16:42:35 ERROR
org.apache.catalina.core.ContainerBase.[Catalina].[localhost].
[/SASEnterpriseGRC].[action] - Servlet.service() for servlet action threw exception
java.util.NoSuchElementException: Issue Not Found: 10810|
The root cause of this problem is related to owner re-assignment, where rights are different for an originator and owner. A series of steps similar to the following re-creates the error. For this example, assume there are 3 users: User 1, User 2, and User 3.
- Log on as User 1.
- Set up custom fields for issues or action plans.
- Modify the custom page definitions for the issue or action plan and add the custom fields.
- Create an issue or action plan and Assign User2 as owner.
- Add data for the required fields.
- Add data for the custom columns.
- Send the issue or action plan for publish approval and have it approved.
- Open and reassign the issue or action plan to another owner. Select User 3.
- Log on as User 3. Select and open the target issue or action plan from the task list with the activity saying Issue Awaiting for acceptance.
- When the view display opens, accept the issue or action plan.
- Click Begin Modification. Update the values in the custom columns.
- Click Save. Add change-reason text values and click OK.
This is the point where the HTTP 500 error appears on your display and the NoSuchElementException error appears in the log.
