Problem Note 53995: SAS® 9.4 becomes unresponsive when you use the KINDEX function in a Unicode session

DetailsHotfixAboutRate It

SAS becomes and remains unresponsive when you use the KINDEX function in a SAS 9.4 Unicode session. The problem occurs if the input string to the KINDEX function contains binary characters such as %AD, as shown in the following example:

data test; alias0="http://www.abc.com/en_us/software/sas%ADhadoop/in%ADmemory%ADhadoop.html"; alias0=ktrim(kleft(compbl(urldecode(alias0)))); put 'alias0:' alias0; url_domain=kcompress(kscan(alias0,1,':')||'://'|| kscan(alias0,2,'/')); put 'url_domain:' url_domain; page=tranwrd(alias0,ktrim(kleft(url_domain)),''); put 'page:' page; if kindex(page,'?')>0 then put " XXX"; else put "YYY"; run;

This problem occurs only with SAS 9.4 Unicode sessions. It does not occur with SAS 9.4 in an English session.
