Usage Note 53821: Using EasySoft settings to overcome UTF data issues in SAS/ACCESS® Interface to ODBC
When using SAS/ACCESS Interface to ODBC to read Microsoft SQL Server data with UTF data types such as NVARCHAR, you might see errors similar to the following:
ERROR: CLI describe error: [Easysoft][SQL Server Driver 10.0][SQL Server]General error: Failed to create conversion handle
ERROR: CLI describe error: [Easysoft][SQL Server Driver 10.0][SQL Server]Statement(s) could not
be prepared.
The following ODBC DSN settings for EasySoft can be useful in overcoming these errors.
Note: Before using these ODBC DSN settings, ensure that the environment variable EASYSOFT_UNICODE is set to NO.
ConvToUtf=Yes
ConvWToUtf=Yes
The best place to set environment variables for SAS use is in the !SASROOT/bin/sasenv_local file.
