Problem Note 53811: A user-defined function created by PROC FCMP causes slow performance if it contains the SUBSTR function
Beginning in the first maintenance release of SAS® 9.4 (TS1M0), user-defined functions or subroutines that are created by the FCMP procedure can cause slow performance when these functions or subroutines are called in a DATA step or in a procedure. This is most likely to occur with user-defined functions or subroutines that contain the SUBSTR function.
See Overview: FCMP Procedure for a list of the procedures that support the user-defined functions and subroutines created by the FCMP procedure.
The performance issue is addressed in the second maintenance release of SAS® 9.4 (TS1M2).
