The data for a project might have changed since the last time you forecasted your data using SAS Forecast Server. Example: the data includes a new BY variable (such as a new product), or new observations (such as sales data for the past three months).
When you reforecast a project, SAS® Forecast Studio, or SAS Forecast Studio for Desktop, recognizes that the project data changed. In the Update Project Data dialog box, you can choose whether to use the updated version of the data.
In the Update Project Data dialog box, you are given the following choices:
Diagnose and Select each have the option of resetting all series to "automatic selection".
A user-created model refers to a model that you add in the Modeling View. (To create a user-created model, click Add model. Select either Create and fit new model, or Fit an existing model. Choose Set this model as forecast model.)
If you choose Diagnose, then a non-user-created model is not retained as the champion model.
If you choose Diagnose, then all series are analyzed for trends, seasonality, cyclicity, possible transformation, and so on. Any system-generated models that are appropriate for the series are created. The best-performing model is selected, parameters are estimated, and forecasts are made.
If you choose Select, then appropriate models (models that were deemed appropriate for the series the last time a Diagnose was chosen) are evaluated against the data. Using the model selection criterion, the best-performing model is chosen. Parameters are estimated and forecasts are made.
If you choose Fit, then the parameter estimates are updated in each champion model (whether the model was automatically chosen by the software, or is a user-created model). Forecasts are made.
If you choose Forecast, then the parameter estimates are not updated. The champion model and its parameter estimates are retained (whether the model was automatically chosen by the software, or is a user-created model). Forecasts are made.
If you choose Cancel, then the project prior to the data change is displayed.
Note: If you select Fit, then a message is displayed:
