Installation Note 53214: The SAS® 9.4 Deployment Wizard encounters a problem while installing Base SAS®
The SAS Deployment Wizard might report a failure when attempting to install Base SAS. This problem occurs when Base SAS and Base SAS hot fixes are installed twice by the SAS Deployment Wizard. To confirm that the Base SAS installation failure that you are experiencing is the same problem that is reported in this note, examine the Deployment in Progress page of the SAS Deployment Wizard to see whether Base SAS is listed twice in the list of products being installed by the wizard.
Here is an example of what you might see if your installation failure is the same as the one documented in this note.
Note: In the image above, Base SAS and Base SAS hot fix is M88009 are listed twice. On your own system, you might see a different hot fix listed twice.
Workaround
To work around this problem, use the SAS Deployment Wizard to install your software without installing the hot fixes. Follow these steps.
- When prompted by the SAS Deployment Wizard to continue with the remaining installations, click No to cancel the installation.
- Uninstall SAS 9.4 and delete the SAS 9.4 installation folder.
- Open a command prompt with elevated permissions using the instructions shown here:
- Click the Start button. In the search box, enter cmd.
For Windows 8.1, go to the Start screen and select the Search button. Enter cmd in the search box.
- Right-click the command prompt and select Run as administrator.
- Execute setup.exe using the -nohotfix command line option to exclude hot fixes from the installation. See the following examples below. You might need to modify the path to setup.exe to match that of your SAS installation media.
