Problem Note 52604: The PATHENCODING environment variable does not work with SASĀ® 9.4
The PATHENCODING environment variable provides an alternative encoding for external file and directory references for SAS 9.4 running in a UNIX operating environment.
When the PATHENCODING environment variable has a valid encoding value, SAS transcodes the path name in the specified encoding. However, the variable does not work correctly with SAS 9.4. Transcoding does not occur when you specify an encoding value in the PATHENCODING environment variable.
