Problem Note 52456: Unconfigure fails with message, "Unable to delete the metadata object(s)"

DetailsAboutRate It

In SAS® OpRisk VaR, an Unconfigure / Remove Existing Configuration of the server tier can fail because there is metadata in the SAS® Metadata Server that prevents the unconfiguration. When the failure occurs, messages like the following occur:

[Delete Objects] Java Result: 8 [echo] INFO *** DeleteObjects started on Aug 13, 2013 *** [echo] INFO Server RDCESX11070.race.sas.com:8561, user sasadm@saspw. [echo] ERROR /System/Applications/SAS OpRisk VaR/OpRisk VaR 5.1(Folder)delete failed. [echo] DeleteObjects completed with errors. [echo] Return Code: 8 [propertyfile] Updating property file: C:\SAS\Config\Lev1\Logs\Configure\orvarcfg_config_status.properties [echo] Unable to delete the metadata object(s): /System/Applications/SAS OpRisk VaR/OpRisk VaR 5.1 BUILD FAILED C:\Program Files\SASHome\SASFoundation\9.3\orvar\sasmisc\Config\orvarcfg_config.xml:264: The following error occurred while executing this line: C:\Program Files\SASHome\SASDeploymentManager\9.3\products\cfgwizard__93585__prt__xx__sp0__ 1\Utilities\loadMetadata.xml:1711: Unable to delete the metadata object(s): /System/Applications/SAS OpRisk VaR/OpRisk VaR 5.1 at org.apache.tools.ant.ProjectHelper.addLocationToBuildException(ProjectHelper.java:541)
In order for the unconfiguration of the server tier to be successful, this metadata must be manually deleted. To delete the metadata:
  1. Start SAS® Foundation. On Windows, this is StartSASSAS 9.3.
  2. Enter metabrowser in the search field on the upper left of the main SAS window and press enter.
  3. The MetaBrowser starts as a child window inside the SAS window. By default, the metadata is browsable.
  4. To edit metadata (for example, to allow deletions), from the SAS menu bar go to:
    ToolsOptionsExplorerGeneral
Then uncheck the item Metadata Browse Mode.
  5. In the left hand pane of the Metadata Browser window, expand the following tree:
    <your-hostname>FoundationTextStore
Right-click over item Oprisk_Cube_1024_TrendReport_XSLT and select Delete.
  6. Use the SAS® Deployment Manager to unconfigure SAS OpRisk VaR 5.1. For details, see the SAS(R) 9.3 Intelligence Platform: Installation and Configuration Guide. See the section Removing a SAS Configuration.
