Problem Note 52990: Recovery from a backup might fail when you use the SAS® Deployment Backup and Recovery Tool
The SAS Deployment Backup and Recovery Tool might report a failure when you are performing a recovery from backup for the SAS® Content Server and SAS configuration directories. The problem occurs if software updates have been applied to an existing SAS® 9.4 deployment.
Software updates to your existing SAS 9.4 deployment include applying a SAS maintenance release, applying a product-specific maintenance release, or upgrading to a new product release.
The workaround for this problem includes locating the most recent version of the product directory names from the deployment and then modifying a path in both the BackupServer.ini and configuration.properties files to use the updated version of product directory names.
Workaround
To workaround the problem, use the following steps.
Important These steps must be completed on each host machine where the SAS Deployment Backup and Recovery tool is configured.
Step 1: Find updated product directories for cfgwizard and deploywiz products.
- Navigate to SASHOME/SASDeploymentManager/9.4/products.
- Locate the cfgwizard_version number_prt_xx_sp0_1 and deploywiz_version number_prt_xx_sp0_1 product directories that were used for your most recent deployment. These directories can be identified as those with the higher version number.
- Make note of latest version number for the directory names. This information is needed for step 2.
Step 2: Modify files to use the new product information found in Step 1.
- Navigate to SAS-configuration-directory/Lev1/Backup.
- Open the file BackupServer.ini in a text editor and modify the path for the following property in the file:
backupserver.cfgwizard.utilities.dir
The path should specify the new cfgwizard_version number_prt_xx_sp0_1 directory name that was found in Step 1 and then save the file.
- Navigate to SAS-configuration-directory/Lev1/Utilities
- Open the file configuration.properties in a text editor, and modify the path for the following property in the file:
cfgwizard.groovy.path
- Specify the new deploywiz_version number_prt_xx_sp0_1 directory name and then save the file.
- Repeat steps 1 and 2 on each host machine where the SAS Deployment Backup and Recovery tool is configured.
- When all steps have been completed on each host machine, reattempt the recovery using the SAS Deployment Backup and Recovery Tool. The failure should no longer occur.
