The following error message might be written to the SAS® log and your SAS® session might end abnormally when a very long FOOTNOTE statement is used with the SGRENDER procedure:

ERROR:  An exception has been encountered.
Please contact technical support and provide them with the following traceback information:
The SAS task name is [SGRENDER]

This error can also occur with other ODS Statistical Graphics (SG) procedures, such as the SGPLOT procedure, as well as with SAS/STAT® procedures when ODS Graphics is enabled.

This error typically occurs when specifying the OUTPUTFMT=EMF (or IMAGEFMT=EMF) option in addition to the HEIGHT= and WIDTH= options in an ODS GRAPHICS statement before the procedure step.

To circumvent the problem, shorten the length of the FOOTNOTE statement text. Another circumvention is to remove the OUTPUTFMT=EMF (or IMAGEFMT=EMF) option from the ODS GRAPHICS statement. You might also be able to circumvent the problem by modifying the values for the HEIGHT= and WIDTH= options in the ODS GRAPHICS statement.
