This example uses SAS^® 9.4 and Windows 7.

1. If you can read Traditional Chinese, install the Traditional Chinese edition of SAS. Otherwise, use the English edition with double-byte character set (DBCS).



2. Re-set regional and language settings for your PC:
1. Select Start ► Control Panel.
2. Click Region and Language.
3. In the Region and Language dialog box, click the Administrative tab.
4. On the Administrative tab, click the Change system locale button to display the Region and Language Settings dialog box.
5. From the drop-down list, select your system locale value Chinese(Traditional, Taiwan) and click OK.
6. Restart your computer.


3. Change SAS system options for languages. The default setting in C:\Program Files\SASHome\SASFoundation\9.4\nls\1d\sasv9.cfg (for example) is Japanese. (For more information, see SAS Note 18317: "The default SAS^® double-byte character set (DBCS) session locale is set to Japanese on SAS®9.") Change it in this manner:
1. In Notepad, open file C:\Program Files\SASHome\SASFoundation\9.4\nls\1d\sasv9.cfg.
2. Search for the -LOCALE option.
3. Comment out this line:

/* -LOCALE ja_JP */

4. Add this new line:

-LOCALE zh_TW
