Usage Note 51938: Using the Windows Management Instrumentation Command-line to obtain information about all running SAS® server processes under Windows
You can use the Microsoft Windows Management Instrumentation Command–line (WMIC) to obtain a great deal of information about all SAS server processes that run in Microsoft Windows operating environments. The list of SAS server processes includes SAS Workspace Servers, SAS® Stored Process Servers, SAS Pooled Workspace Servers, the SAS® Metadata Server, the SAS® OLAP Server, the SAS Object Spawner, the SAS/SHARE server, and other SAS servers.
You can use the WMIC command to create an HTML report that contains the following information about all running SAS server processes:
- the complete command-line command that is used to start the server
- the date and time at which the server was started
- the process ID
- the metadata server to which your server is connected
- the SAS configuration file location
- the port number that the SAS Stored Process Server process is using
- the memory usage
- the I/O count
- other additional information
The following MS–DOS command creates an HTML report called SAS_Processes.html that contains information about all SAS processes (and the object spawner) that are running on your Windows machine:
C:\> wmic /output:SAS_Processes.html process where (caption="sas.exe" or caption="objspawn.exe") get * /format:hform
View the SAS_Processes.html file with your Web browser to see the report. A portion of the SAS_Processes.html report is included at the bottom of this page.
You can also use the WMIC command to obtain information about all java.exe processes that are running on
your Windows machine (including the JBoss web application server or any SAS server that runs java.exe$1;. To obtain the information, enter the following command at the MS-DOS command prompt:
C:\> wmic /output:Java_Processes.html process where caption="java.exe" get * /format:hform
View the Java_Processes.html file with your Web browser to see the report.
Extract from the SAS_Processes.html File - Stored Process Server Process Information
