Usage Note 51775: A "Restricted data type" error occurs when you use SAS/ACCESS® Interface to ODBC to connect to Sybase IQ
When you use SAS/ACCESS
® Interface to ODBC to connect to Sybase IQ, this error might occur:
[Sybase][ODBC Driver][Adaptive Server IQ]Restricted data type attribute violation: Cannot convert var_name to a numeric(126,38).
The error is most likely to occur if the Sybase IQ table or variable name identifier is quoted or contains spaces within the name.
To circumvent the problem, include the QUOTE_CHAR='"' option in the LIBNAME statement. This option specifies the quotation character to use when delimiting identifiers. This option does not work with the META LIBNAME engine. If the META engine is calling a library created with the ODBC LIBNAME engine, then you need to specify the option in the ODBC library in SAS® Management Console.
