Problem Note 51591: The SAS® Forecast Studio 12.1 or later Java Web Start client fails with the error "Unable to load the SAS environment definitions"
In SAS Forecast Studio 12.1 or later, the Java Web Start client can fail, generating the following error message:
This error is a result of an expired digital signature. It occurs when you have Java 1.7.0_21 or later and you click Run in the following Security Information dialog box:
To correct this problem:
- Add the Microsoft Windows environment variable SAS_ENV_DEFINITION_LOCATION to the machine on which SAS Forecast Studio resides.
- From the Windows Start menu, right-click your computer name and select Properties ► Advanced system settings to open the System Properties dialog box, as shown below.
- Click the Environment Variables button to open the Environment Variables dialog box.
- Click the New button that appears under the System variables section to open the New System Variable dialog box.
- In the New System Variable dialog box, enter the following information:
- In the Variable name text box, enter the environment-variable name SAS_ENV_DEFINITION_LOCATION.
- In the Variable value text box, enter the full URL that is used as the value for the SASENVIRONMENTSURL= parameter, which is located in SASHOME\sassw.config.
Note: The URL shown below is an example. The URL in your sassw.config file might be different, and you should use the specific URL that is shown in your file.
With the values entered, the New System Variable dialog box should appear similar to the following display:
- Click OK to exit the New System Variable dialog box.
- Clear the Java Web Start cache, as follows:
- Open the Java control panel by clicking the Windows Start button and selecting Control Panel ► Java.
- In the Java control Panel dialog box, click the Settings button.
This action opens the Temporary Files Settings dialog box that is shown below.
- In the Temporary Files Settings dialog box, click Delete Files. This action opens the Delete Files and Applications dialog box.
- In the Delete Files and Applications dialog box, selet all three check boxes.
- Click OK to exit the Delete Files and Applications dialog box.
- Click OK to exit the Temporary Files Settings dialog box.
- Click OK to exit the Java Control Panel dialog box.
- Relaunch your SAS Forecast Studio Java Web Start client.
