Problem Note 51624: SAS® LASR™ Analytic Server fails and returns the error "Failed to create a LASR Analytic Server signature file"
When you create or modify a public SAS LASR Analytic Server in the SAS® Visual Analytics Administrator and then start the SAS LASR Analytic Server, an error message might appear:
Starting the SAS LASR Analytic Server failed.
ERROR: Failed to create a LASR Analytic Server signature file. Make sure that
the path is specified correctly and that you have write permission to that path.
ERROR: Failed to start a LASR Analytic Server on the local host.
ERROR: Libref ML is not assigned
ERROR: Error in the libname statement
To Resolve This Error
- Click the SAS LASR Analytic Server definition Advanced Options button.
- Click the Additional Options tab.
- Review the Signature files location on server path. For Windows operating systems, this should be a relative Windows path.
- If you are accessing an existing SAS LASR Analytic Server, ensure that the folders in this path exist and are not set to Read-only.
- If you are creating an additional SAS LASR Analytic Server, change the path to a similar signature files folder used for the initial public SAS LASR Analytic Server, such as the following:
\6.2\VisualAnalyticsAdministrator\sigfiles2
- For either the existing path or a newly created path, ensure that the permissions for folders in this path are as documented in the secure documentation SAS® Visual Analytics 6.4 Administration Guide, Chapter 6: Security. For details about signature files locations and permissions, see Chapter 9: SAS LASR Analytic Server. For access to this secure documentation, contact SAS Technical Support and provide your SAS site number.
