Usage Note 50643: Understanding how SAS® Web Report Studio handles HTML tags when you export results or when you open reports directly in other applications

DetailsHotfixAboutRate It

Overview

In SAS® Information Map Studio, you have the option to display values as hyperlinks in query results. Typically, you would enable this option for values that have associated HTML tags that can be resolved in a browser. The tags might be in the data source or they might have been added using the Expression Editor in SAS Information Map Studio. (For an example of using the Expression Editor to add HTML tags, see Sample 40747.)

When exporting reports, the HTML tags are resolved differently depending on your release of SAS Web Report Studio, as explained next.

Release 4.3

The behavior in 4.3 depends on which hot fix release you are using.

If your hot fix is D26009 or earlier, then you should see the following behavior.

  • If you entered the HTML tags using the Expression Editor in SAS Information Map Studio, then the tags are not resolved when you export the report.
  • If the HTML tags are in the data source, then the HTML tags are resolved when you export the report.

If your hot fix is D26010 through D26014, then the HTML tags not resolved when you export, regardless of where the tags are defined.

If your hot fix is D26015 or later, then the HTML tags are resolved when you export the report directly from the table or you export the entire report, regardless of where the tags are defined. The latest hot fix is available from the Hot Fix tab in this note.

Releases 4.31 and 4.4

In release 4.31 and 4.4, the HTML tags are not resolved when you export the report, regardless of where the tags are defined.

A hot fix is available for version 4.31_M2. Click the Hot Fix tab in this note to access the hot fix. After the hot fix is applied, the HTML tags are resolved when you export the report as XLS directly from the table or you export the entire report, regardless of where the tags are defined.

The tags are not resolved if you export as XLXS.

Release 4.4_M1 and later

The HTML tags are resolved when you export the report as XLS directly from the table or you export the entire report, regardless of where the tags are defined.

The tags are not resolved if you export as XLXS.

Limitations

  • When opening reports directly using SAS Enterprise Guide or the SAS Add-In for Microsoft Office, the HTML tags are not resolved. Instead, you see the HTML tags.
  • When you export as XLS, some specific HTML tags might not be resolved. For example, the style attribute on the font tag is not supported. (No tags are resolved when you export as XLSX.).
