Problem Note 50299: Optimization returns incorrect prices when default target rule "NO TARGET RULE" is used
When no target rule is specified for a promotion plan, SAS® Promotion Optimization uses the default target rules during optimization. If the default target rule is defined in the GEO_PROD_SETTING table with SETTING_VAL = -1 (meaning "NO TARGET RULE"), then incorrect prices are returned from evaluation/optimization.
There are no errors or warnings to indicate a problem.
To work around this issue, specify any of the following settings:
- Set a target constraint on your promotion plan
- Set a valid default target rule in GEO_PROD_SETTING
- Set GEO_PROD_SETTING.SETTING_VAL = 3 where GEO_PROD_SETTING.SETTING_TYPE is in (27, 28) and
set GEO_PROD_SETTING.SETTING_VAL = 0 where GEO_PROD_SETTING.SETTING_TYPE is in (29, 30)
