Problem Note 50279: Data corruption occurs when you use Viewtable to edit DBMS tables accessed with the OLE DB LIBNAME

DetailsHotfixAboutRate It

When you use Viewtable to update a table referenced with an OLEDB LIBNAME, the changes made are not retained. As you make changes and switch between columns in the table, cells that had been previously modified might revert back to their original values or to values of other rows in the same column.

The following steps can illustrate the behavior:

  1. Open a DBMS table using Viewtable and then start EDIT mode (Row-level access).
  2. Click on the first row, first column: Var1. Change the value.
  3. Click on the second row, first column: Var1. Change the value.
  4. Click on the third row, second column: Var2. Change the value.
  5. Click on the third row, third column: Var3. Change the value.
  6. Click on the fourth row, third column: Var3.
  7. Click on the third row, third column: Var3.

Now you should see that the values in the table change.

The values that had changed in a row might change back to the original value, or a column might take the value of one of the changed rows above it.
