Problem Note 50164: SAS® Promotion Optimization displays "An error occurred in SAS Merchandise Intelligence ... Restart or Exit the application"

When using SAS Promotion Optimization, the following error message might be displayed:
SAS Merchandise Intelligence
An error occurred in SAS Merchandise Intelligence.
Restart or Exit the application.
The detailed error message that is displayed when you click the Show Details button shows a null pointer exception (java.lang.NullPointerException).
Actions that might cause this issue include the following:
- Selecting the Regional and Alternative Promotions view.
- Closing the Promotions tab.
- Opening the Regional Promotion tab.
- Expanding a regional promotion.
There is no workaround.
