When selecting a data source for a report, you should choose only those data items that you plan to use in the report. Any data items that you do not use are placed in the hidden role. Because hidden data items are still considered in the query, including unnecessary data items can negatively impact performance.
For example, suppose that you have an information map that contains 20 data items. If you plan to only use eight of those data items in your report, then select only those data items in the Select Data dialog box.
Click the Hot Fix tab in this note to access the hot fix for this issue.
Although the hot fix improves performance when your report includes hidden data items, it does not completely prevent performance problems. Depending on the number of hidden data items, you can still experience performance problems. As a best practice, include only those data items that you need in your report objects.
