The SAS® 9.4 environment file named sas-environment.XML defines a set of SAS deployments at your site. Your administrator makes this file available on your organization's network, and can provide you with the file's URL.
A prompt for the SAS Environment URL is displayed in the SAS Deployment Wizard during a client installation. The value that you need to supply is the URL for a "sas-environment.XML" file that should reside on an HTTP server. Your administrator provides the URL. If you do not know the value to enter during installation, then you can accept the blank value, and select Next. However, the value is needed in order to launch any of the clients that rely on that file, such as SAS Enterprise Miner, SAS® Forecast Studio, or SAS® Model Manager. If an appropriate value is not specified, then the logon screen is not displayed, and errors such as the following appear:
The application was unable to load the SAS environment definitions. The file location or file contents might be invalid. Please contact your administrator for assistance.
The application cannot find the URL for the file that identifies the SAS environments. Please contact your administrator for assistance.
Specify the value in the SASHOME/sassw.config file with the SASENVIRONMENTSURL parameter.
For multi-machine installations, use this specification:
"Server_host_name.sas" is the address for the SAS web server machine.
For single-machine installations, use this specification:
The default for SAS 9.4 has changed.
