Usage Note 50291: Connections are slow or unresponsive when you are using SAS/ACCESS® Interface to Teradata on a virtual private network (VPN)
When you use SAS/ACCESS Interface to Teradata on a VPN, the connection might be extremely slow. It can take as long as 30 minutes to connect to the Teradata server.
The problem occurs when the VPN network and the Teradata client fail to synchronize. To see whether this is the issue, try one of the following:
- Use the Basic Teradata Query (BTEQ) utility from Teradata to see whether it also connects slowly.
- Connect the computer to a non-VPN network to see whether SAS or BTEQ connects quickly.
This problem occurs primarily with the 13.0 version of the Teradata client. To resolve the problem, upgrade your client to version 13.10 or later.

For software releases that are not yet generally available, the Fixed
Release is the software release in which the problem is planned to be
fixed.
When you are using SAS/ACCESS Interface to Teradata on VPN networks, the connection times might be very slow. The problem occurs on Teradata 13.0 clients. To resolve the problem, update the Teradata 13.0 client to Teradata 13.10 or later.
