Usage Note 50116: The error "No catalog found to place format/informat" occurs when you import an SPSS file
An error might occur when the IMPORT procedure reads an SPSS file that contains field names that are longer than the SAS
® software allows. Here is an example:
PROC IMPORT OUT= WORK.ONE
DATAFILE= "C:\documents and settings\username\myfile.sav"
DBMS=SPSS REPLACE;
RUN;
The following error might also occur:
ERROR: No catalog found to place format/informat
Because the field names are too long, the SAS log might contain many notes similar to the following:
NOTE: Variable Name Change...< original_field_name_that_is_too_long_for_a_SAS_name- >
original_field_name_that_is_too_
This problem occurs because SAS is not able to write the catalog to the user's WORK library.
To correct the error, try redirecting the WORK directory to a drive with more free space.
