Usage Note 50002: IBM Platform LSF Process Manager (jfd) and Grid Management Service (gabd) must be started by the root account in UNIX operating environments
Under UNIX, IBM Platform Computing Process Manager (jfd) and Grid Management Service (gabd) can only be started by the root account under UNIX.
Platform Computing documentation does indicate that a Process Manager administrator can start the jfd service, but that only enables it to run in single-user mode. Only the root account can start the jfd service in full mode.
