The SAS/ACCESS Interface to OLE DB product should be able to access any OLAP data sources for which there is an OLE DB for OLAP provider available and installed on the machine.

Currently, OLE DB for OLAP providers are available from Microsoft, Siebel, or SAP. Cognos does NOT provide an OLE DB for OLAP provider for access to their cubes.

The SAS/ACCESS Interface to OLE DB supports the LIBNAME engine and pass-through. PROC ACCESS and PROC DBLOAD are not supported.

Since OLE DB is not a database, but an API that allows you to get to any data source, table names and column names are determined only at run time. SAS has a limitation of 32 characters on the size of variable and member names. The OLE DB engine supports table and column names up to 32 characters. If the table names and column names are longer than 32 characters, they will be truncated to 32 characters for SAS to use.
