Problem Note 49677: Modifying a stored process that includes multiple Asian characters in SAS® Enterprise Guide® 4.3 or 5.1 might cause a transcoding error

DetailsHotfixAboutRate It
In SAS Enterprise Guide 4.3 or 5.1, when you modify a stored process file that includes many Asian language characters, you might receive the following transcoding error:
[Error] Failed to transcode data from xxxxx to U_UTF_CE encoding because it contained
characters which are not supported by your SAS session encoding.
Please review your encoding= and locale= SAS system options to ensure that they can accommodate
the data that you want to process.....
The problem can occur when you do the following:
  1. Select File ► New ► Stored Process.
  2. Enter a certain amount of Asian characters. For example, more than 30 lines and each line has more than 50 characters.
  3. Deselect Run stored process when finished and then click the Finish button.
  4. Find and right-click the stored process file, and select Modify.

To prevent this problem, open and edit the stored process file using a Windows text editor instead of SAS Enterprise Guide.

A hot fix for SAS Enterprise Guide 4.3 is available here.
