Problem Note 49841: SASServer3 and SASServer4 fail and pink cells are displayed in a SAS® Financial Management report or form
A problem has been identified in the Java hotspot compiler that
might
cause SAS Financial Management read-only reports or data-entry forms to
display pink cells.
If this problem occurs, a message similar to the following is
displayed in the server3 and server4 logs:
# A fatal error has been detected by the Java Runtime Environment:
#
# EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION (0xc0000005) at

SAS Technical Support recommends that you follow the
instructions below to install the .hotspot_compiler to prevent this problem from occurring.
Extract the .hotspot_compiler from the hotspot_compiler.zip file and save it to a known location.
Note: Any directory surrounded by <> such as,
<jboss-as> refers to the full path to that location on
your server, as it might vary from environment to environment.
Instructions for JBoss:
- Copy the .hotspot_compiler to the
<jboss-as>/server/SASServer3
folder on the middle tier.
- Locate the SASServer3 start-up file:
Windows: <jboss-as>/server/SASServer3/wrapper.conf
UNIX: <jboss-as>/bin/SASServer3.sh
- In the SASServer3 start-up file, add the following option
(modify the FULL path as needed):
-XX:CompileCommandFile=<jboss-as>/server/SASServer3/.hotspot_compiler
Examples:
Windows
-XX:CompileCommandFile=C:/path/to/jboss-as/server/SASServer3/.hotspot_compiler
Linux
-XX:CompileCommandFile=/some/path/to/jboss-as/server/SASServer3/.hotspot_compiler
- Restart SASServer3.
Instructions for WebSphere or WebLogic:
- Copy the .hotspot_compiler to the application-server/SASServer3
and SASServer4
folders on the middle tier.
- Add the following option (after modifying the
path) to your
SASServer3 and SASServer4 start-up JVM options:
-XX:CompileCommandFile=<path-to>/.hotspot_compiler
- Restart SASServer3 and SASServer4.
See SAS Note 39504
"Setting JVM parameters for Web application servers when running SAS
9.2" for information about how to set the JVM parameters
for your web application servers.
