Problem Note 48097: Warnings occur in the SAS® log when you use SAS® Retail Planning

When you use SAS® Retail Planning, you might receive the following warnings regarding variable lengths:

WARNING: Multiple lengths were specified for the BY variable variable name by input data sets.
WARNING: Variable variable name has different lengths on BASE and DATA files.

Click the Hot Fix tab in this note to access the hot fix for this issue.

The LIBNAME statement option USE_CHARACTER_COUNT= is added in this hot fix. The default value is NO. All values for this option are defined below: 

use_character_count=yes          force character count both directions
use_character_count=no           never force character count.   
use_character_count=read_only    force character count on reading only
use_character_count=write_only   force character count on writing only
