Usage Note 48447: SAS® Drug Development 3.5 - Microsoft WebDAV or Web Folders performance considerations when deleting a large number of files from a folder

Web Folders are more suitable for these types of large deletes than SAS® Drug Development Destop Connection since the initial folder retrieval of all children is not done. When a user deletes an object from a Web Folder, they are immediately presented with the confirmation dialog box shown below:

Once the user confirms the delete process, the request is sent to the server and an indeterminate progress indicator is presented as shown below:

Progress is never determined and since web folders has an arbitrary time-out limit of 30 seconds, this dialog box is dismissed after 30 seconds has elapsed and an error dialog box is presented as shown below:

What has happened is the server operation did not complete within 30 seconds, so the web folder assumes the operation failed. This is not the case, the server operation continues to complete the delete operation. A user using the web folder would naturally assume the operation failed, which is not the case in most instances.
