Problem Note 48270: Abend or incorrect variance estimates if replicate contains all missing values
If the VARMETHOD=JACKKNIFE|JK or VARMETHOD=BRR option is specified on the PROC SURVEYMEANS statement, a REPWEIGHTS statement is specified along with either a DOMAIN or BY statement, and if any of the replicates have all missing values for the analysis variable, then either the procedure will abend with an error message or the procedure will complete with certain variance estimates incorrect.
Possible error messages include:
ERROR: The REPWEIGHTS variable contains no positive replicate weights.
ERROR: An exception has been encountered.
ERROR: Write Access Violation SURVEYMEANS
If the procedure completes, then the variance estimates within the domain level or BY-group that includes the replicate(s) with all missing values will be incorrectly reported as 0 or missing. In addition, the standard error and variance of the mean, t-value and Pr>|t|, confidence limits for the mean, and the coefficient of variation will also be incorrect.
To circumvent this problem when the analysis variable is continuous, use PROC SURVEYREG instead and specify the analysis variable as the response variable on the MODEL statement.
