Problem Note 47883: SAS® Enterprise Guide® might time out when connecting to a grid
Starting in SAS Enterprise Guide 5.1, a 30-second timer was hardcoded to prevent grid submissions from stopping indefinitely when a server was not available. The error message, shown below, occurs if the initial grid connection takes longer than 30 seconds. This issue might also occur when the LSF #runwindow parameter explicitly sets servers to be available only during a specific "run window." When a grid job is run outside of the run window, SAS Enterprise Guide returns the following error pop-up message:
An error occurred executing the workspace job "Program".
Timeout during initialization
If this error occurs, set the ServerInitializationTimeout value to -1 inside the SEGuide.exe.config file, which is located by default here: C:\Program Files\SASHome\SASEnterpriseGuide\5.1
The modification would look similar to the following:
<configuration> <appSettings> <add key="ServerInitializationTimeout" value="-1" /> </appSettings> </configuration>
Note: Setting this value to -1 causes SAS Enterprise Guide to stop responding indefinitely if no server is available during the run window.
