Problem Note 46013: Formatting might be removed when sending results from SAS® Enterprise Guide® to Microsoft Excel
When sending stored process results from SAS Enterprise Guide to Microsoft Excel, Excel uses the SAS® Add-In for Microsoft Office to interpret and display those results. When the results are displayed, some of the formatting might be lost. Typically, the affected columns contain numeric values that include leading zeros and some date values. This problem occurs because Excel interprets the values as numeric before they are displayed.
To circumvent this issue, you must add a line to your SAS Add-In configuration file using the following steps:
- Close all Microsoft Office applications on the client machine.
- Install the latest hot fix for the SAS Add-In. The link can be found on the Hot Fix tab in this SAS Note.
- Create a file named
SAS.OfficeAddin.dll.config
and place it in the installation folder for the SAS Add-In. The default location is usually something like c:\Program Files\SAS\Add-InForMicrosoftOffice\4.3\
.
- Edit the
SAS.OfficeAddin.dll.config
and add the following lines:
<configuration>
<assemblySettings>
<add key="AllowExcelToInterpretValueType" value="false"/>
</assemblySettings>
</configuration>
If this file already exists and the configuration
and assemblySettings
tags already exist, just add the add key
tag above inside the assemblySettings
tag.
- Save the file.
- Launch SAS Enterprise Guide again and send your results to Excel.
