Problem Note 46769: Specifying the POSITION() function in the XPATH statement within an XMLMap file might not extract data correctly
Using the POSITION() function in the XPATH statement of an XMLMap file does not correctly extract data when used with the XMLV2 or XML92 LIBNAME engines. When the XML file is read into SAS using this map file, the value comes in as blank.
Viewing the same XML and XMLMap files within the XML Mapper displays the values correctly.
To circumvent the problem, use the XML LIBNAME engine rather than either the XMLV2 or the XML92 LIBNAME engine.
