Problem Note 46596: "No output destinations active" warning message generated
The warning message "No output destinations active" is generated if the following statements are the first statements submitted in a SAS 9.3 session:
ods html close;
ods preferences;
The ODS PREFERENCES statement should enable SAS to investigate the settings selected in Tools ► Options ► Preferences ► Results. It should also reactivate the ODS HTML destination that is set by default in the SAS windowing environment in SAS 9.3. See SAS Note 42874 for a reference to this setting.
It is not recommended that the statements above be submitted as the first lines of code. However, if they are in effect and the warning message "No output destinations active" is generated, there are two suggested workarounds:
-
Exit and restart SAS.
-
Submit the following statement to route output to the HTML destination:
NOTE: The subsequent HTML files will reside in the current working directory, which is not the SASWORK directory. Subsequent HTML files and any images included in them will persist in the current working directory, and will not be deleted when SAS closes.
