Problem Note 46371: An exception occurs when you try to stop JBoss Enterprise Application Platform 4.2.0 or later in UNIX operating environments
Under UNIX, the following exception occurs when you attempt stop JBoss Enterprise Application Platform (EAP) 4.2.0 or later:
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.SecurityException: Failed to authenticate
principal=null, securityDomain=jmx-console
at
org.jboss.jmx.connector.invoker.AuthenticationInterceptor.invoke(AuthenticationI
nterceptor.java:97)
at org.jboss.mx.server.Invocation.invoke(Invocation.java:88)
. . .additional text lines. . .
This exception occurs because JBoss EAP enables security by default. Therefore, a user name and password are required in order to stop JBoss. For additional details about this JBoss issue, see
JBoss Enterprise SOA Platform SOA-980.
To work around the problem, add the -u user-name -p password options to the shutdown.sh section of the SASServer1.sh script.
Note: The user name and password are defined in the jmx-console-users.properties file that resides in the JBoss-home-directory/server/SASServer1/conf/props/ directory.
The following example includes the -u user-name -p password options, with both the user name and password defined to be admin:
stop)
# Add arguments for user name/password as in "SASServer1.sh stop -u
username -p password"
JAVA_OPTS="-d64 -Xms512M -Xmx512M"
"/sas/PROD/jboss-4.2.0.GA/bin/shutdown.sh" -u admin -p admin -s
localhost:1099 $* -S
;;
Once you make this change, you should be able to stop JBoss successfully.
