Problem Note 46234: Starting Workflow Services gives "Context initialization failed.." errors
When configuring SAS® Enterprise GRC using DB2 as the Relational Database to store Content for Shared Services, starting Workflow Services might give an error. The following appears in the [load workflows] portion of the configuration logs, and in the "SASWorkflowServices9.3.log" file:
[main] ERROR [] org.springframework.web.context.ContextLoader - Context initialization failed
org.springframework.beans.factory.BeanCreationException: Error creating bean with name
'workflowEventHandler' defined in ServletContext resource [/WEB-INF/spring-config/workflow-config.xml]:
Cannot resolve reference to bean 'SASWorkflowEngine' while setting bean property 'engine';
nested exception is org.springframework.beans.factory.BeanCreationException: Error creating bean with name
'SASWorkflowEngine' defined in ServletContext resource [/WEB-INF/spring-config/workflow-config.xml]:
Cannot resolve reference to bean 'workflowTimerService' while setting bean property 'timerService';
nested exception is org.springframework.beans.factory.BeanCreationException: Error creating bean with name
'workflowTimerService' defined in ServletContext resource
Several Java traceback entries appear, and are followed by this error:
Caused by: com.ibm.db2.jcc.am.SqlSyntaxErrorException: DB2 SQL Error:

You can circumvent this problem by either of two methods.
- Use the SAS framework server to store content.
Edit two files and run ManualLoadContent after the configuration finishes.
First, modify the "quartz-properties.xml" file. Here is the unedited line.

org.quartz.impl.jdbcjobstore.StdJDBCDelegate

Edit the line so that it reads as follows:

org.quartz.impl.jdbcjobstore.DB2v8Delegate

Second, add addition attributes to the JBoss "sharedservices-ds.xml" file. Here is the unedited line.
<connection-url>jdbc:db2://twnedupc01:50000/shared</connection-url>
Edit the line so that it reads as follows:
<connection-url>jdbc:db2://twnedupc01:50000/shared:driverType=4;fullyMaterialize
LobData=true;fullyMaterializeInputStreams=true;progressiveStreaming=2;progresssi
veLocators=2;deferPrepares=false;</connection-url>
