Installation Note 46027: The sasadm and database passwords appear visibly in logs during migration to SAS® 9.3
When you migrate you software to SAS 9.3, the password for the sasadm user ID is plainly visible in the logs, as shown below:
[SCS Restore: SMU package]
'-Djava.security.auth.login.config=/shared/SAS/bci/BCI2/ConfigA/Lev1/Web/Common/login.config'
[SCS
Restore: SMU package] '-Dscs.jndi.jndiName=sas/jdbc/SharedServices'
[SCS
Restore: SMU package] '-Dscs.jndi.driver=com.sas.tkts.TKTSDriver'
[SCS
Restore: SMU package]
'-Dscs.jndi.jdbcUrl=jdbcastkts://yourhostname:62984?constring=(DSN=SharedServices;encoding=UNICODE_FSS)'
[SCS Restore: SMU package] '-Dscs.jndi.user=sasadm@saspw'
[SCS Restore: SMU package] '-Dscs.jndi.pwd=password'
This problem occurs in the start spawners stage of the SAS Web Infrastructure Platform configuration.
The password for the database that is to be used by Shared Services is also visible in the webinfpltfm_startServer_date.log file:
{SCS Restore:
/install/hah_optum/config/Lev1/Web/Temp/sas.svcs.scs/WFSDumpMigration/Area1]
'-Dscs.jndi.pwd=password'
There is no solution for this problem. Just be aware that it happens and delete the passwords manually from the log files for added security.
