Problem Note 45596: In SAS® Enterprise Guide® 4.2 and 4.3, SAS libraries that are z/OS GDGs cannot be seen in the server list under Bound Libraries
In SAS Enterprise Guide 4.2 and SAS Enterprise Guide 4.3, SAS libraries that are members of z/OS GDGs (Generation Data Groups) do not appear in the Server List under Bound Libraries.
Bound Libraries are defined in the metadata under MVS Support for a
given application server. They are basically wildcards with given
high-level qualifiers (for example, SYS2.SASPROD.* or serveruser.*).
If you define a filter in metadata under MVS Support with a single qualifier level, level1.*, you do not see the SAS GDG libraries listed in SAS Enterprise Guide, even when you expand to the maximum number of levels for that qualifier.
If you define in metadata under MVS Support multiple levels in the qualifier of a SAS GDG, (for example, level1.level2.SAS.GDG.*) and try to expand that definition under Bound Libraries in SAS Enterprise Guide, you receive an error similar to the following:
[Error] Physical file does not exist, level1.level2.SAS.GDG.*.
To work around this issue, define the SAS libraries in a GDG separately in the metadata and access them from the Server List under Libraries. For example, you could define level1.level2.SAS.GDG(0) in metadata to always access the most recent generation of the data set.
