Problem Note 45558: Average promotional discount rule might not effectively handle sparse sales data
You might notice that the Average Promotional Discount Rule does not effectively handle sparse sales data in SAS® Regular Price Optimization. Specifically, you might notice that if a particular product did not sell at a store for a given week, then the assumption is made that there was no promotion for that product at that store for that week. This can lead to incorrect sales forecasts for that week of the following year.
Once the hot fix is installed, the average promotional discount percentage will be aggregated for both location and product. For locations, the aggregation will be at the uniform price level of the plan. For products, the aggregation will be at the same price group. After applying the hotfix, the scope of the average promotional discount rule should include all products within the same price group and all locations within the uniform price level.
There is no workaround for this issue.
Click the Hot Fix tab in this note to access the hot fix for this issue.
