Usage Note 45377: Troubleshooting techniques to try if the Platform Computing Load Information Manager (LIM) service is in a "Stopping" state
When you try to stop the LIM service from the Windows Services Control Panel, the state of the service might show only "Stopping."
Set the following debug option to determine whether the issue appears because the LIM service is not able to get a response to its operational system calls (loop) from the Windows performance counters library Perflib.
Set LIM service debugging by adding LSF_DEBUG_LIM="LC_TRACE LC_COMM" and LSF_LOG_MASK=LOG_DEBUG in the lsf.conf file. Restart the Load Sharing Facility (LSF) services so that the change takes effect. Examine the LIM log in !LSF_TOP/log, where LSF_TOP is the root installation level of LSF. If the newly generated LIM log ends with the following, then there might be an issue with the performance counter library values:
main: sampleIntvl=5.000000 exchIntvl=15.000000 hostInactivityLimit=5 masterInactivityLimit=2 retryLimit=2
This problem can occur for either of the following reasons:
- Certain extensible counters corrupt the registry
- Some Windows Management Instrumentation-based programs modify the registry
To resolve the issue, rebuild the performance counter library values manually. Follow the steps in the knowledge base article from Microsoft,
How to manually rebuild Performance Counter Library values.
