Problem Note 45099: When data of type VARCHAR is extracted from a Teradata table with SAS/SHARE® software, the column data is truncated

DetailsHotfixAboutRate It

If a SAS character variable of data type VARCHAR is being read from a Teradata table, and SAS/SHARE is being used to reorder the buffer because of an ORDER BY clause, data truncation might occur.

Another more involved issue exists when the SAS/SHARE server is running on the same machine as the SAS Workspace Server when a PROC SQL View is created. The Teradata engine operates as if SAS/SHARE is responsible for the buffer alignment. However, the SAS Workspace Server is responsible for the alignment. Data truncation occurs because the Teradata engine thinks that SAS/SHARE handles the buffer alignment, but the alignment is handled by the SAS Workspace Server.
