Usage Note 45671: A possible conflict exists between avast! antivirus software and the SAS® System in the Windows operating environment
A possible conflict exists between avast! antivirus software and the SAS System for Windows. The avast! software might incorrectly remove DLL files from the SAS installation folder. As a result, the following type of error messages might appear in your SAS log when you start the SAS application:
ERROR: BRIDGE FAILURE CALLING UNKNOWN
ERROR: UNABLE TO LOAD saspos FOR SYSTEM 233.
ERROR: BRIDGE FAILURE CALLING UNKNOWN
ERROR: UNABLE TO LOAD saspos FOR SYSTEM 233.
ERROR: BRIDGE FAILURE CALLING UNKNOWN.
ERROR: UNABLE TO LOAD saspxq FOR SUBSYSTEM 103.
ERROR: Module saspxq not found in search paths
ERROR: BRIDGE FAILURE CALLING UNKNOWN.
ERROR: UNABLE TO LOAD sasxkrin FOR SUBSYSTEM 415.
ERROR: Proc transpose was not found.
These errors might occur when avast! antivirus software reports a false positive for SAS DLL files and removes the files from the SAS installation folder.
Restoring SAS DLL Files from the avast! Virus Chest
If any of the errors shown above appear in your SAS log, and avast! anti-virus software is installed on your operating system, you can resolve the errors by performing the following steps:
- Open the avast! anti-virus program.
- Select Maintenance.
- Select Virus Chest.
- Sort by time moved to Chest.
- Select the SAS DLL files that should be restored.
- Right-click and select Restore.
