Problem Note 45665: SAS® Web Report Studio might stop working if the SAS® Metadata Server is offline during nightly maintenance
SAS Web Report Studio is configured perform a nightly clean-up of the query cache (that is, the WRSTEMP library). By default, the maintenance is done at approximately 10 p.m. local time. If the SAS Metadata Server is offline at the time of the scheduled maintenance, then SAS Web Report Studio might stop working. Specifically, you might see the following error when you attempt to log into the application:
Fatal configuration error prevents access to SAS Web Report Studio.
When this error is caused by the metadata server being offline, the Remote Services log contains an error that is similar to the following:
The GetMetadataObjects request failed because the server is paused for OFFLINE use.
This error is typically followed by a warning about the sastrust account that is similar to the following:
The application could not log on to the server "xxxxxx:8561".
The user ID "sastrust@saspw" or the password is incorrect.
To resolve this issue, stop and then restart the following servers.
Stop the servers in this order:
- Web application server.
- SAS Services Application (Remote Services)
- SAS® Table Server
- SAS/CONNECT® server
- SAS/SHARE® server
- SAS object spawner
- SAS® OLAP Server
- SAS Metadata Server
Restart the servers in this order:
- SAS Metadata Server
- SAS OLAP Server
- SAS object spawner
- SAS/SHARE server
- SAS/CONNECT server
- SAS Table Server
- SAS Services Application (Remote Services)
- Web application server. (The SAS Content Server starts automatically when the application server is started).
