Problem Note 45485: The SAS/SHARE® server closes unexpectedly with the error "...Recursive Segmentation Violations - system exiting"
While you are using a SAS/SHARE® 9.2 (TS2M3) server, the server might close unexpectedly, at which point the following error appears in the server log:
ERROR: Recursive Segmentation Violations - system exiting
This problem does not occur at server start–up. The problem occurs sporadically, after clients have been accessing the server for a period of time. It is not caused by any specific code that has been submitted to the server.
To work around this issue, you need to turn off the collection of usage statistics. Usage statistics are collected by adding the LOG= option to the PROC SERVER statement and specifying any valid parameter other than QUERY. For the workaround, do not include the LOG= option in the PROC SERVER statement unless it specifies only LOG=QUERY.
In addition, you must remove the ACCTLVL= option from the PROC SERVER statement. Any ACCTLVL= setting logs (at least) at the default LOG=MESSAGE option level, even if you omit the LOG= option.
In the following example, you need to omit LOG=ALL:
proc server server=&port authenticate=optional log=all;
run;
