When you try to create a project in SAS Enterprise Miner 7.1 workstation, you might receive the following error:

This server location is already registered for use, either by another project,
or by another SAS Application. Or user does not have permission to create
project at this location. Try using a different name for your project, or enter
a different path.

When you install SAS Enterprise Miner 7.1 workstation maintenance one (M1) on a 64-bit Windows operating system using an order that is designed for a 32-bit Windows Operating System, the installation completes. However, you must manually complete post-installation steps.

These steps are specific to SAS Enterprise Miner 7.1 M1. SAS Enterprise Miner 7.1 M1 became available in December 2011. If you have M1 installed, then Help ► About in SAS Enterprise Miner shows "7.1 M1".

Complete the following manual steps:

• Copy the contents from "<SASHOME>\SASFoundation\9.3\dmine\sasmisc to "<SASHOME>\x86\SASFoundation\9.3\dmine\sasmisc".

• If SAS^® Text Miner is also installed, then copy the contents from "<SASHOME>\SASFoundation\9.3\tktg\sasmisc" to "<SASHOME>\x86\SASFoundation\9.3\tktg\sasmisc".

• If SAS^® Credit Scoring for SAS Enterprise Miner is also installed, then follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to "<SASHOME>\x86\SASFoundation\9.3\nls\en".
  2. Create a backup of the sasv9.cfg file and then open the original file for editing.

  3. Add this line to the –SASHELP entry.

     !SASROOT\creditscrnod\sashelp

  4. Add this line to the –PATH entry.

     !SASROOT\creditscrnod\sasexe

After you complete the manual steps, try to create a project. If you can successfully create a project, then no additional steps are needed.

However, if you still receive the error after completing the steps above, then see this note: SAS Note 44796, "The 'Step 1 of 2 Specify Project Name and Server Directory' window appears when you select Finish on 'Step 2 of 2 New Project Information'". The note gives steps to correct the operating system permissions on the SASEnterpriseMinerWorkstationConfiguration folder within "C:\Program Files\SASHome". After completing the additional steps to correct the permissions, you are able to successfully create a project.
