Installation Note 45258: Errors occur in SAS® Enterprise Guide® 4.3 after you uninstall SAS® 9.2
If you have been successfully using SAS Enterprise Guide 4.3 on a Windows platform and then uninstall SAS 9.2 from your system, you might receive the following error when trying to access data on the network drive:
The open data operation failed. The following error occurred. Class not registered
If you try to run a SAS program, you might receive this error:
A connection to the server 'local' could not be established".
This problem sometimes occurs if the shared files that are needed by SAS Enterprise Guide have been removed.
Workarounds
Use one of the following workarounds to correct this behavior.
Reregister SAS 9.3:
- Select Start ► Run.
- Type cmd.
- Press ENTER.
- Navigate to the SAS directory using the following steps:
- Type cd\ and press ENTER.
- Type c:
- Type cd C:\Program Files\SASHome\SASFoundation\9.3
As an alternative, you can follow these steps:
- Type cd C:\Program Files\SASHome\x86\SASFoundation\9.3
- Type sas.exe /regserver and press ENTER.
- Test SAS Enterprise Guide 4.3 to make sure it is now working correctly.
If the above steps do not correct the problem, do the following:
- Verify that SAS 9.3 is working.
- Open SAS by selecting Start ► Programs ► SAS 9.3 (English).
- Make sure that there are no errors in the log or any pop-up messages. If there are errors, open a track with SAS Technical Support and include the entire log. Reference this Installation Note when you open the track.
- Submit the following code in SAS:
proc setinit; run;
proc options; run;
Make sure that there are no errors and that the expiration date is current. If there are any problems, send the entire log window.
- How are you trying to run your SAS code? For example, in SAS from the File ► Open menu or in Windows Explorer by double-clicking a program? If you can open and use SAS 9.3 normally, proceed to step 4a. If there are issues, open a track and provide the details.
