Usage Note 45040: Upgrading stored processes and making them compatible with SAS® 9.2
Beginning with SAS
® 9.3, you can use new stored-process features and you can choose to make your stored processes compatible with SAS 9.2. If your client does not support new stored-process features, then you might need to make your stored processes compatible with SAS 9.2. Stored processes that are compatible with SAS 9.2 can also be upgraded to use the new stored-process features.
To make a stored process compatible with SAS 9.2, follow these steps:
-
From the SAS® Management Console navigation tree, select the folder that contains the stored process that you want to modify. And select the stored process that you want to make compatible with SAS 9.2.
-
Open the Stored Process Properties dialog box to make sure that none of the newer features are being used. This includes checking for the following features:
-
If the Server type is set to Default server, change the selection to either Stored process server only or Workspace server only.
-
If the Server type is set to Workspace server only, make sure that Stream is not selected under Result capabilities. Also, make sure that no data sources or data targets are specified if you are using a workspace server.
-
If execution was allowed on other application servers, change the selection to Allow execution on selected application server only.
-
If the source code was stored in metadata, change the selection to Store source code on application server and specify a filename and location on the application server for the SAS program. Be sure to copy the source code from the Edit Source Code in Metadata dialog box to the file location.
-
Make sure that no data tables are specified as data sources or data targets.
-
Right-click and select Make Compatible.
To upgrade a stored process to use newer features, follow these steps:
-
From the SAS Management Console navigation tree, select the folder that contains the stored process that you want to modify. Select a stored process that is compatible with SAS 9.2 to upgrade.
-
Right-click and select Upgrade.
-
Open the Stored Process Properties dialog box to make use of the newer features.
